During World War II, Nazis also produced
shrunken heads of their victims. After World War II,
the shrunken heads of the two prisoners were found at the
Buchenwald concentration camp. One of them was presented as
evidence at the Nuremberg Trials by U.S. Executive Trial
Counsel Thomas J. Dodd. The exact count is unknown,
the two captured samples are shown below.

Dr. Eisele had been condemed to
death in that case, but he still had to answer
for crimes that he had allegedly commited in the
Buchenwald concentration camp.

Buchenwald inmate, preserved as a grisly memento
by a Nazi officer of the death camp
After American
soldiers had liberated the Buchenwald camp, they
were astounded when the Communist prisoners took
them on a tour of the camp, showing them pieces
of tattooed human skin, two shrunken heads,
preserved human body parts, and a table lamp
with a lampshade allegedly made from human skin.
The two shrunken heads, which looked just like
those made by primitive tribes in South America,
were alleged to be those of Polish political
prisoners at Buchenwald. They were put on
display in the court room even though none of
the accused was specifically charged with
shrinking these heads.
